AFRICAN ELEPHANT - Loxodonta africana - up to 4m in height and 7000kg in weight Silver - Weight approximately l00g. £1070 Gold/9ct - Weight approximately 109g. £1545 Gold/18ct - Weight approximately 150g. £2500 Each sculptured elephant is handmade using 2.00mm. diameter wire plus a certain amount of sheet metal such as for the trunk, back section and feet. The elephant is rather stronger than it looks due to the method of construction used. The constructional procedure is similar to that of the galloping horse. All joints are silver or gold soldered in order to pass the hallmarking requirements. Each piece is hallmarked by the London Assay Office. Silver will tarnish under normal circumstances - regular polishing and keeping in a glass case will reduce tarnishing.
