Silver offers courses in silversmithing
and jewellery at either a home-based workshop or at colleges in the
UK. We cater for complete beginners as well as those with
considerable experience of the craft. Tuition is geared to a person's
individual requirements and is based on a hands-on approach. Within
reason, guests can make whatever they want to tackle.
You
will learn about a wide range of techniques, such as soldering, wire-making,
piercing, planishing and raising. For those interested in setting up
their own workshop, then we can advise on tools, materials, workshop
layout and how to go about obtaining your own sponsor's mark for hallmarking.
Vincent has over
thirty years experience as a silversmith and jeweller in the UK,
Zambia, Nigeria and Botswana, and has written several technical books
specially for students in developing countries. Margaret, is a
qualified teacher of English as a foreign language, and . . . a
fabulous cook!
